How can I help stop bullying at schools

How can I help stop bullying at schools?

Every school has a duty by law to stop bullying and racial discrimination,

Under the race relations act and amendment acts of 1976 and 2000, Romany gypsies and Irish travellers are protected from racial discrimination/bullying and attacks,

What if my school does not help to stop this or are not doing a lot?

There are lots you can do to stop this yourself,

1/ form a committee of youth get a bullying and problem record book, and give your group a name,

2/ as a group ask the head teacher to allocate a class room during lunch break, where youth can come and talk to you about their problems in the school,

if the head teacher will not allow you to do this, then ask to see the governors of the school, and if you need us to do this then just call us on 01227 789652,

3/ make some posters to put up around the school, to let other youth know what you are doing and where they can find you to ask for your help,

4/ at the end of the week, make a meeting with the head teacher to discuss all the problems you have recorded in your book, (remember if you do not record it then they are less likely to hear about it a week later, (record every thing) then discuss with the head what actions they are going to take to combat all the problems there are. ( PLEASE REMEMBER THAT IF THERE IS A CASE WHERE A YOUTH IS BEING ATTACKED DON’T WAIT TILL THE END OF THE WEEK, GO STRAIGHT TO THE HEAD, TO GET IT SEEN TO IMMEDIATELY,)

also keep in mind that some youth may not want you to say anything to a teacher, in these cases it will be up to you as a group to decide what action to take, in some cases it might just be that you will as a group need to send a letter home to the parents to explain things are not quite right at school, and to get the parents to talk to the youth, again the school will be only to willing to help you make these choices, never be afraid to ask for help in any situation, if we don’t ask we Dont get,

And if you just want some advice and help you can always call us and we will do all we can,

most school will only be to happy to have your help, so please always share your views with a teacher you trust and like, as they will really be a good help to you, show them this letter if it will help,
