How can I help improve my site and my housing estate?

There are lots of things you can do to improve your housing

Needs and again this is always better when it comes from the youth,

Don’t let anyone tell you, you can’t make a change or allow them not to take any notice of you, under the UN convention of the rights of a child your opinion is very important, and you must be listened to.

These are your first steps,

1/ form a committee of youth, give yourself a name,

2/ discuss what needs doing in your area, park, community centre, site repairs.

3/ there is a large amount of money out there, for youth like you that want to make a change, we will help you if you need our help in filling out the grant forms,

4/ so know you found many things you want to change, is it a council issue or is it something you would like to do for the community,

5/ council problem, make an appointment for the council to visit your group, talk through the problems you have found and discuss how you can sort the problems out, if they are not willing to help you let us know and we will write to the bigger people at central government, and they will take it up for you,

6/ is it something for the community, as a group you can fill in a grant form and send if off to get some money to help you with this project, (example, youth wanted to put a park on there site, we helped them apply for the funding, contacted the council to tell them of their intentions, the council came out to talk in more detail,

then they got the all clear to build the park, only one problem they did not get all the money we needed for the grant, so they held a culture day to raise the rest of the money and there it was a new park on a council site, that the youth made happen,

You are more powerful at the age you are now to make a change, so take up the challenge and let’s change things for the better.
