THE LORD LIEUTENANCY

Celebrating Youth Achievement is the main initiative of the Lieutenancy of Kent for 2007

 Launched by Allan Willett CMG, the Lord Lieutenant of Kent, on 30th January 2007

 Two main strands to the year

o Celebrate young people and the work of the adults who support them as a continued

theme throughout the programme of Royal visits, the Lord Lieutenant’s community visits

and in the work of the Deputy Lieutenants

o A celebration event for young people and the leaders in their organisations and schools

titled ‘All this and More’. The event will be held at the Detling Showground on Saturday

16th June 2007.

The Lord Lieutenant has asked the charity, Kent Youth, to coordinate the Detling event working

closely with a Lieutenancy working group chaired by Godfrey Linnett TD DL

 The year and event have already received significant interest from the media as well as the public,

private and voluntary sectors

“The Lieutenancy places great importance on this initiative because young people represent the future

of our great County. Many young people have made good from an unpromising start line. They have

made great strides in personal development, becoming valuable, more employable citizens, and giving

themselves a head start in adult life”

Allan Willett CMG, The Lord Lieutenant of Kent
